NYFW 2022 – Our Favorite Catwalk Looks

As always, variety was not lacking at New York Fashion Week 2022. This year was on a different level, with an energy and feeling of anew in the air that seemed to come at just the right time. The world's best designers debuted some historic collections that jolted us awake from what felt like a two-year hiatus. From the clothing pieces to the hair and, of course, the makeup, this year could have been our favorite NYFW yet.As we predicted, 90's nostalgia was alive and well at NYFW 2022. And while there were plenty of intergalactic, metallic pops of color donning the runways this year, the true 90's callbacks were the dark browns and shades of red. The models of Laquan Smith's ready-to-wear show paid an indirect homage to 90's supermodels like Cindy Crawford, with smokey eyes traced in deep red, and mocha brown lipstick and liner to finish the look.Another look from this year that we can't stop thinking about is, of course, the bold and bedazzled campy eyes. We're going to give Euphoria credit for being the main source of inspiration for NYFW 2022; so many shows featured models that could have stepped directly from being an extra on HBO's hit series to the catwalk. From Christian Cowan's rhinestone bejeweled eyes, courtesy of Lori Taylor Davis, to Shayne Oliver's jaw dropping "bouquet eyes" from makeup artist Pat McGrath, models' faces were adorned with works of intricacy that we haven't seen before. And since we're all about a fresh face, there's something to be said for the look Altuzarra pulled off this year. Dubbed "mermaid-y" by makeup artist Dick Page, Altuzarra's models paraded down the runway with incredibly glossy skin, with hues of blue and green dramatically smudged around their eyes and down their cheeks. This ocean inspired wet look was one of our favorites, and a welcomed twist on the classic dewy skin go-to.The plethora of trends we saw at New York Fashion Week 2022 seems to reflect the minds of designers who were truly able to focus on their craft over the last couple of years, with so many incredible ideas thrown together to create a wildly successful combination of styles, moods, and thoughts.
